KNOWN FAKE STICK RETAILERS

In our attempt to keep you informed and out of trouble with spending money on what you think you really want to buy, we are going to keep a list of retailers that you should be weary of. The stores are all online and we have very strong information that these sell sticks that are not real Gryphons. We strongly urge you to take note of these stores and we will be updating this list as we find confirmation of more places that are not authorised retailers of Gryphon Products.

The sticks sold here are fakes. Mostly they are factory seconds (not Gryphons) that have been resprayed poorly to look like a Gryphon. These sticks will not perform well, will have a tendency to break or feel bad in the hand. They will look wrong as they will have spelling mistakes and graphics that are incorrect. All together it’s not a great package and you certainly don’t want to be handing over money for these products.

CT10 x GRYPHON STAND

In the tradition of hockey tournaments all around the world, Gryphon is always present. This year in Germany we have brought the pallets and all the good gear to check out and buy.

These stands take days to set up but are great fun to rip down.  Here in Germany the guys have done a great job on the setup and making the tent welcoming.

GRYPHON STICKS x FAKE v REAL

Recently there has been talk in magazines and online forums about fake/counterfeit sticks hitting the market. Gryphon sticks are not left out of this vicious area for concern.

Currently there are not many fake sticks that we have encountered on the market BUT the ones we have found are easily noticed and avoided. ALL of the fake sticks are sold over the internet directly from website coming mainly from Pakistan. Add the ease of selling through Ebay and these sticks can be bought anywhere in the world.

The problem with fake sticks are many. You are not getting what you pay for and that principle is very sound. You are being cheated. The sticks under the fake skins are usually a very very cheap stick (in many cases a bottom end stick from a different brand and factory which has been painted over the top with Gryphon like artwork) and will not perform at all like a genuine Gryphon.  The moulds are different and if you are after a Pro Mould you will be missing out. If the stick has a fault, there is no place for you to get this checked or fixed, so no warranty.

How can you tell if you get a real stick before you buy?

1/ Buy from a reputable store. Check they have a real phone number, address and email and sell more than just a handful of products. A store in the same country as yours is a good indicator of an Authorised Gryphon reseller.

2/ If the price is cheap, it’s too good to be true.  While yes sellers can discount but brand new sticks selling well under any main retailer’s price is a good indicator the stick may not be real.

3/ The Gryphons on the market that have been copied are mainly the PRO Tour and PRO Blue Steel, our flag-ship models. Be weary of buying these online especially unless you know the seller or has been recommended to you.

WOODHOUSE SPORTS ACADEMY x APRIL 2010 CLINICS

Woodhouse Sports Academy has been in operation for 7 years in Perth, Western Australia and started the world wide trend of bringing elite players to the grass roots level. The first being in a rural country town in Western Australia back in 2003. Now in 2010 the WSA is in fun swing, coaching young juniors all over the state, developing young athletes to become future stars.
Woodhouse Sports Academy has even teamed up with Gryphon to form the “Gryphon Coaching Camps” in the Surrey region of the UK in 2007 & 2008. Instead of flying all the Australian players to the UK, we found it far more beneficial to utilise the local heros such as Ben Marsden, James Tindall and Rob Moore. They were all fantastic coaches and players and gave players a real insight to what it takes to become a representative of their country.
All Woodhouse Sports Academy staff are highly skilled athletes and can provide both advanced skill development through knowledge of the game and provide inspiration to juniors by playing alongside them offering encouragement, advise on what it takes to get to the elite level and showing them that hockey also be can be fun and rewarding.

GRYPHON x ART x DC COLLABORATION x PART 5

Staff designer DC was let loose to create a GRYPHON ART SERIES for the coming Champions Trophy. The resulting collaboration is some of the coolest stuff we’ve seen in a while. Special note is that these are not computer generated images, they are all hand drawn by DC which makes ‘em all the more unique.

Selected GRYPHON ART SERIES will be made available in A3 size posters and will be given away at the 2009 Men’s Champions Trophy in Melbourne, Australia, which is on as we write. Rounding out the series with our final poster in this collaboration here on G-Life is DC’s take on Fi Johnson.

PART 5 highlights the phenomenal Fi Johnson, who is part of the backbone of the emerging Hockeyroos line-up. She is a girl with a heart the size of Pharlap’s and pushes the boundaries every time she represents. Here she is in action with the latest 2010 GRYPHON TABOO BLUE STEEL.

GRYPHON HOCKEY x 2010 WEBSITE

Our Gryphon design team have been working hard over the past period in a goal to have a new website for 2010. The goal was to have the new 2010 range of Sticks and Bags available on the main website before the Champion’s Trophy. It is this event that the first ever showing in the real world these products will be displayed and made for sale.

We are pleased to announce that the design team is successful in their goal.  The new 2010 site is now LIVE. It may only feature directly the new 2010 products (sticks, bags and shoes), so keep checking it for updates.

Here’s the world’s first preview of the new 2010 range Gryphon Sticks.

BUT if you are in Melbourne for Champion’s Trophy you can do more than just preview them.

Gryphon and F-H-E.com (retailer) in Australia have partnered up for Champion’s Trophy in Melbourne to have a Stall in the complex for the duration of the event. On hand will be the first chance in the world to see in the carbon composite the real deal for 2010.  Not only will you be able to pick up, look and feel the new ranges (as well as the 2010 bags), you’ll be able to purchase them right there and then. It will be the first place in the world that will have the new range of sticks for sale and we thought it was fitting at a home tournament.
