The final game of the pools required Holland to beat Germany by four goals in order to progress to the Final game. Valiant as they were, the Dutch were unable to win by enough, even though they beat Germany 4 goals to 3.

4 minutes into the game, TT slotted home a penalty stroke to start on the right foot but six minutes later Germany won two more goals to take the lead with some game momentum. The Dutch looked in trouble.  In the 24th Rob Reckers levelled the game and at half time, two each.

With the knowledge that they, the Dutch must win and big, the Orange pushed hard and took the lead within in mere minutes of the start of the half. They banked another to go two goals up and look a chance with plenty of time to score more.

It didn’t happen. The Germany team shut up shop, used their aggressive back line defence and used every trick they could to make sure every Dutch attack went nowhere. Of course (like in the Australia v Germany game), tempers flared, but when Germany scored a break goal from the rock defence the game was dusted and gone.

The final is now decided.

GOLD: Germany v Australia

BRONZE: HOLLAND v SOUTH KOREA

5th – 6th: ENGLAND v SPAIN
