It’s crunch time. Two games are quarter finals in essence.
A win for NZ would require Holland to beat South Korea and they’d be through. Germany a win is enough for progress to the Semis.
As you’d expect both teams came out and played great hockey from the get go, but it as the Germans who scored two before the half and the first of the second.
Three goals ahead and the game looked iced and Germany were in control. All of few short minutes later New Zealand wrestled some control and backed in 2 quick goals to be back in the hunt.
In the final ten Germany shut the door on the Black Sticks with two more goals to run out winners 5 goals to 2. New Zealand would either finish 4th or 5th in the pool. Amazing considering they had a chance for second.
Germany now wait for the result of the next game to find out if they play Australia or England on Thursday.
