OLYMPIC SELECTION x JODIE SCHULZ

Hi G-Team,

Well what can I say but Wahoooooooooooooo! In case you don’t know what i’m so excited about…I was selected in the 16 player London Olympic Team!! I found out on Sunday however it was not officially announced until Tuesday. Tell you what, that is one hard piece of information to hold from people for 48 hours! I am absolutely stoked to have been selected and to be honest I still don’t think it has sunk in yet. It’s been a hard couple of years for me. Looking back 4 years I did start to doubt and wonder whether I should be taking my life in another direction like work and study, but all I can say is that i’m glad I stuck with it. I had belief and support from some fantastic people and it just goes to show that dreams can come true if you work hard enough for them!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank my family for their constant support they have given me over the years, my partner Shane for putting up with me but more importantly keeping me grounded and moving forward. So many emotions are running through me right now… I am happy, over the moon, nervous, excited, proud but most of all grateful for the opportunity. I’d like to say congratulations to all the girls that made the Olympic Team but also to all the girls in the squad that missed selection. We had so many amazing players and I wouldn’t have wanted to be in the selectors shoes as there would have been some very tough dicisions due to the skill level throughout the whole squad.

So enough of the soppy stuff for one post. Currently I am en-route back to Perth from Brisbane to get back into training on Thursday. This is going to be one of the most important training blocks for both the team and myself. We need to focus on exactly what needs to be done in order to achieve our Olympic goals!

For those twitter fans out there, I have now opened my account thanks to the push from my team mate Anna Flanagan. Follow me @JodieSchulz!!! I’d like to thank you all for your support.

I look forward to blogging my way through my first Olympics.

Talk soon

Jodie :-)
