SCHEEFER x UPDATE

Hi all,

It has been almost 2 years since my first post on http://www.gryphon-life.com and lots of things have happened in my life since then!

After a second French Championship title in a row (third in my career) with C.A.Montrouge (Paris), I have decided to go for a whole new challenge… As you should know, Hockey in Belgium is growing very fast and I was offered to play for the K.H.C.Leuven last season. I accepted the offer, but my studies did not allow me to go to Belgium full time, so I had to attend lessons in Paris during the week, and go to Belgium for the weekend! It has been a very exciting season. Unfortunately, because of 3 wasted games, we did not reach the top 4, we finished 5th! However it has been an amazing experience so far! Belgium hockey is very professional with really talented players coming from all over the world!  Both national teams qualified for London, which is great for such a small country!

At the same time, I was playing for the French National team, on the road to London 2012. After a huge disappointment in the last European Nations Championship in Germany, many things changed in and around the French team. In February 2012 we went to India (New-Delhi) to play in the Olympic Qualification Tournament. We had a whole new team filled with both experienced, old and new players as well as new staff. After an amazing tournament, we lost in the final against the host country in front of 20,000 spectators, and only 10 French people in the middle of this huge crowd…! So close! But again, we lost because of PC’s…

As a result of not qualifying I have had three months off. Another challenge is now facing me… I was offered to play for the Peel Rebels in the WA league (Melville Toyota League) from June to September! I am now in Australia, more exactly in Mandurah (south of Perth). I am looking forward to playing in this new league, in a new club, with new mates. I think it is going to be fun and an invaluable experience!

I will let you know how the next three months go! The objective is to help the club stay in the first division.

Talk soon

Francois
