Summer. It’s kinda arrived. The sun is out and it’s not zero degrees. That’s a win in my book.
On wins. England need one to stay in the finals as they play Argentina next.
South Africa have a win on the books and could be a likely chance for an upset.
It only took England nine minutes to open their account with emotion and vigour.
The funny thing is that the very full stadium here today weren’t too impressed and it started to become clear that the locals were cheering for South Africa.
When England scored in the second half from some brilliant structural play they silenced the crowd but not the South Africans, who pushed on. And on. And when they looked more likely to make the next score the noise upped.
It was indeed South Africa with the next score and again Pietie Coetzee who made the connection. Coming out of retirement certainly has born wonders! The crowd was alive and every touch was cheered. The girls in Green looked aggressive and had a few more chances to take this to a draw, not what the English wanted.
In the time of the final buzzer, the more drilled team in England won 2 to 1, but a valiant effort by South Africa has shown that a team with less time as a group can still play well at the top level.

Resumption of games have occurred. It’s colder and wetter than ever but game are being played. Six in fact.
South Korea got that memo while England looked napping early as the Koreans opened the scoring within the first two minutes to stun the English. It did startle the English into the game but not as much as it could have.
England looked to keep a structure in place and play to their game plan of using the wide areas and managed to win short corners out of these. The South Korean defence was too strong in the set plays and the game as a whole and stifled the English attack.
At the start of the second, England used the same tactic as South Korea and scored in the first couple of minutes. The game was set for a frantic finish with both teams needing a win, but if England did win they’d almost be booking a place in the finals.
Korea used the high ball and looked for open space upfront. England still used structure and ball use. Neither team was unable to score further and the final was a draw.
The toll was noticeable on the English after the game with hands on knees. South Korea were a little more upbeat.
1 goal a piece.
In the early game, China took 4 goals to 1 to defeat South Africa convincingly.

Thunder. Lightening. Rain. All happened before the match, which was a good thing. All we had was lots of grey cloud, manageable.
The early attacking play by England. Not manageable for the Chinese. For two games in a row now, the Chinese looked out of touch early and conceded a very early goal. To cut to the chase on this game, that would be the only goal we’d see.
What happened for the rest of the match was actually a very attacking China putting the defence of England under huge pressure for pretty much the whole match. Captain, Kate Walsh and feisty half-back were up to more than what was asked. They soaked up the pressure time and time again.
The Chinese were relentless but frustration showed with no less than two green and one yellow card to them in the first half. They were intent on a win.
It didn’t come and on the back of great defensive play England win two in a row while China now lose two in a row.

The first day of games are underway here in Rosario and none bigger than the home nation playing as the headliner. As I write this, the sounds of singing and dancing and drums are deafening into the press centre.
England being a high seed played a much lower seeded country in Spain. Gryphon’s Kate Walsh lead the English onto the pitch ready to take the big steps into this World Cup campaign. Spain decided to rain on her parade with an early goal which created a goal for goal first half. It was all tied up until the final 4 seconds of the half when the English took a very well worked field goal to take the lead 3 to 2.
That was pretty much all we saw of goals. The game was pretty even in the second with the starting small crowd swelling greatly as it progressed. As the sun set and the lights came on, England took the win 3 goals to 2.
Earlier in the day Korea upset China with a 2 goal to 1 win.

Hello,
My name is Laura Unsworth and i am currently a member of England and Great Britain Womens hockey team. This year has been very different to past and i have seen a lot of changes in my life.
From October 2009, the Great Britain womens team re-located to Bisham Abbey, Marlow which allows us to train together as a team everyday. As a result i moved down to Marlow from Loughborough where i am currently studying at University to join the rest of the girls. As a team, we have just come back off a 2 week break after our bronze medal success in the Champions Trophy in Nottingham and we are getting ready for our final training phase before the team heads out to Argentina for the World Cup in just over a weeks time!
Everyone is geting really excited about heading out to Rosario as it is going to be an unbelivable experience and the crowds are going to be absolutely amazing!

And so it is. The Champion has been crowned for another year, legends made and destroyed, stars born and others have faded.
The CT10 has been one of the highest scoring tournaments in the history of the game. Hockey has never looked so good, been so fast and exciting as what we just witnessed over the past 9 days. Gryphon was there every day to photograph this monumental tournament to bring you closer than ever before to one of the great major events in World Hockey. We reported on the story behind the game, the characters that give identity to the sport we love and those that represent our great brand with passion and pride.
We need to send a massive shout out to photog Daniel ‘DC’ Carson whom spent countless hours behind the lens to capture some truly great moments in time. He has befriended many of the teams and gets access to area’s that others dream to walk. Also to the crew at the Gryphon Store that were there all week welcoming the fans and showing off the best that we have to offer. They explain the product and R&D behind our weapons like no one else so hopefully the faithful, fanatical and punters alike got to experience the vibe of our brand and the movement of our company.
In the end we think this tournament has been a great success on many level’s and that Hockey has never looked so good. A final shout out needs to go to the G-Team, the Gryphon players that were out there all tournament representing themselves, their team, country and the Gryphon name. You guys are the reason the fans come and the reason they’ll return. Awesome stuff.

CT10 x FINAL x ENG v AUS TRIPLE CHAMPIONS

The result may not be a surprise. The way it happened may not shock you. The players that stood up when it counted may not be news. Story is in what.
What did Australia do?
They won the Champions Trophy in 2010. They won the World Cup in 2010. They won the Champions Trophy in 2009. They won the Champions Trophy is 2008. Today they beat England, the European Champions and a team that defeated Australia in the World Cup rounds. In today’s win, the what is the achievement with a young group. A new crop of players against the best in the World.
Having won all 6 games in this tournament including the final they go into the record books for a clean sweep.
Fergus Kavanagh adds his third straight Champions Trophy Gold Medal to the pool room. Also in the squad include Greame Bebgie (world champion) with debutants in this tournament including Joel Carroll, Mark Paterson and Trent Mitton.
Australia controlled the game from start to finish. England never looked like breaching the incredibly strong defense bolstered by Begbie’s return. Up front Pato was in sparkling form creating space where there was none at all.
England had no answers. Injuries crept in due to the extra effort exerted, but it just couldn’t stop the controlling hand guiding them in this match.
A three to nill half time score was what needed to be pondered for some time as the heaven opened up and Monchengladbach flooded. The pitch couldn’t handle the deluge and the break was much longer than usual. Funny enough when the game resumed the sun was shining. And so were the Aussies. Another goal to the tally and the game was won.
Four goals to zero and Australia take home the gold tonight and that very very heavy trophy back to Australia.

It’s on. Today’s the last day of the round matches. Every team still has a chance to make the final game. A unique situation. If Germany lose to Holland in the second match then it’s all in the open. Each team’s future is in their own hands.
New Zealand and England are both on 4 points. A LOT to play for, not forgetting the relegation battle is also as equal as a the final chance.
England/Gryphon’s James Tindall opened the game within a minute of the start with a streaking goal to put the pressure into the already fraught game. It was quick and evident that players on both sides that they were going to get desperate. Careful to avoid cards, but wanting to physically stamp authority on the game the two teams went hard at this game.
New Zealand played the short corner tactic while England full of run. The New Zealanders scored through their worked penalty corners but James Tindall again scored to keep England alive.
The men in black (from NZ) kept the verbal/physical and more short corner pressure on throughout the game and took themselves into a strong position. It was emotional stuff as each goal was celebrated with vigor. It was barely minutes before the end that England scored to take the final winning lead.
The win for England puts them second on the table on 7 points (one above Germany). Providing both Germany and Spain lose they will progress to play Australia. New Zealand look destined to now play for 5th – 6th in a relegation playoff.
England 4, New Zealand 3.
