THE COME BACK AFTER RECOVERY X LUCAS SEVESTRE
May 4, 2010 by Lucas Sevestre
After 7 weeks of recovery I have been able to train back with my stick.
One week of hockey training is not enough to get back the right level to play in the first team of my club, SGHC. So I had to play in the second team, but with pleasure even if the pitch was poor.
I took my old shoes, to not destroy them but I couldn’t leave my stick, the tour range. We won 3-0 and thanks to it, I scored three times. So it was a beautiful Sunday in Normandy (North of France), with a great sun, above us. The week after, I could train with the France team, at INSEP, where you can find the National Hockey center to train. Our two Australians coaches, Scott Goodheart and Chris Rowohlt, train the U21 and France Team there. Now I have to deal with my internship. Asap I finish work, I need one hour to reach INSEP or my Club’s pitch. So I have at least 2h30 of train in a day, what assures me long days for several weeks.

This two last week I have reintegrated the first team to play important games. One of them was against the team of my brother (Lyon), that I would have been disappointed to miss. Fortunately, I played, and we won 4-1. As my bro play Defender and me Midfielder we had some duals, but I all won it. Just kidding, he was good, and I think no one really take the advantage on each other
. But play a game against his brother is very exciting; there is no bad agressivity, just the wish to do better than him. We won our two following games, and thanks to that, we have reached the second place, and now we are fighting for the first one, as we will played the leader, Montrouge, on Sunday. The Semi-Final will take place the 13th May, and the final will be the 15th. We are still looking for a fifth consecutive success of French Title, despite our bad start during the first part of the season.
We have learned with regrets that next year only one French Club will attend the EHL, because of 0.6 point of the European Ranking. The second one will play the European cup B. So you can imagine that we are extremely motivated to get a fifth French title.
My hand doesn’t hurt me anymore, and I have no apprehension about it, because now I play with the G-mit pro, left hand which is really perfect. The fact that there is no grip into the palm, helps to get a better feeling with the stick, and the protection’s hull seems to be rough enough.
As you can deduce, the Championship will be over in 2 weeks, and after that, we’ll be able to focus on the U21, to achieve a great Euro Championship!
4 NATIONS (SECOND PART) X LUCAS SEVESTRE

Back from the 4 Nations tournament in Berlin, I have now the time to tell you what happened the last few days after my first post about it.
Actually, the weather has been very kind with me, no rain, but a good sun, which haven’t avoided me to catch a cold up in the video tower.
![]() |
After a good start in the tournament, we lost clearly against an impressive German Team (who won the 4 Nations, scoring at least 5 five goals per games).
Despite the defeat, we were very motivated to play them once more in the final, but we had to win against Scotland. We dominated the game during 60min, leaded the score 2-1, but missed too many opportunities to raise our number of goals. Frustrated, we started to loose our concentration, and forget our most important objective, “Focus on what we can control” . Everyone started talking and it seemed like a hen house on the pitch. We finally lost 4-2!
From where I was with my camera, it was unbelievable, and I couldn’t keep my anger! I was disappointed to be at Berlin, without the possibility to help my team-mate or tell them to calm down. Very hard situation to live as a player…
After the game we managed to talk with some leader players, then all the team, in order to not forget the errors we’ve made to never do it again.
On Thursday, we had the pleasure to see several girl teams arrived in our hotel, because the Euro Cup would start on Friday! Amsterdam, Barcelona… Some nice teams, with nice players! I think it was a gift for my birthday which was the 1rd April, the day they all arrived. And my team-mates sung me the famous birthday song at 8.am just before around morning-run under a beautiful sun. What a perfect day’s start… I can’t hide the finish wasn’t so good with our defeat against the Scottish!
Let’s chat later.
Hope reader you’re going well!!
Cheers.

CTT09 x DAY2 x ENG v SPN

The final game of the week, and going into a rest day here in Melbourne, the last two teams to play were England and Spain. Both teams lost yesterday and a loss to either would severely dent any chances for a top two playoff.
Intensity was not lacking. A great feature of these games here in Melbourne. Also not lacking are goals. Game one today netted 8, game two have 9 and tonight saw 6 goals go in. Something to do with the new rules? Your call on that one…
Gryphon Gun, James Tindall squarely threw England’s intentions out there in the 2nd minute of the game with Short variation putting Spain on the back foot. The thing is, they didn’t stay there too long and the Spanish jumped forward 6 minutes later and popped in their own PC making it one all at the eight minute mark. Ribas again scored from another Short in the 16th and Spain were looking dangerous. They attacks were not as frequent but it was evident that the English defence was unable to cope totally and conceding Shorts was all too common.
In a battle of goal scoring Tindall again grabbed himself another glorious goal to tie the game. England were on the attack and barely 2 minutes later the English captain took his team into the lead for the half time break.
In the second, the game was like a ship rocking in stormy weather with each team turbulent in attack each way. Not to say not much happened as players went flying, umpires were shouted at and in turn players were put on that little chair for all to see off the pitch.
England started to look the more tired of the two and the Spanish attack lead by Eddie Tabau kept their legs to mount breaking attack after attack until the in 66th minute a well executed play with Amat netted Tabau the equaliser goal. The final six minutes saw Spain having more chances but unable to secure the win leaving them in a draw.
Gryphon Gun James Tindall ended up with two vital goals for England taking him to equal top goal scorer of the tournament with 3.
The final placings after the today look like this.
AUS (6pts – 11f, 2a) | GER (3pts – 6f, 7a) | KOR (3pts – 5f, 7a) | HOL (3pts – 5f, 9a) | SPN (1pt – 5f, 6a) | ENG (1pt – 5f, 6a)
Tomorrow is a rest day for the teams, but don’t be surprised if you see more from me.
DC to the bar!
